Have ya ever wondered??? VACATION? As an "old person" I often find myself wonderin about a lot. Anyway; as I was starting to write, you´re on vacation at a place you spent a lot of time at as a youth. Oh what a recall as all the joys you experienced run thru your mind. You remember maybe some good and maybe some bad times, but I think mostly good. That´s probably why they call them "The good old days", right? So let me tell ya about a place I visited a few days ago, a place I just about grew up in. As a child I´d go to this big old pond and spend hours fishin and swimming and mostly enjoyin life. Well as I say, there I was tryin to get that old spirit back and think about "The good old times" I´d had as a youngster. Did I mention I am now an "older person?? I wonder??" Anyhow, back to this pond. As I eagerly approach with visions of fishin, out pops this big old sign "RESERVED AREA: ENDANGERED SPECIES INHABIT THESE WATERS. DO NOT FISH, SWIM NOR DRAIN." As thoughts of disappointment went thru my mind, I watched this huge bull frog lounging in the sun and taking his fill of all the bugs that happened his way. At least one of us was enjoyin the day. As always, I found myself wonderin what the endangered species was. Somewhere way in the back of my mind I could here the young child in me. As I bend to see just what the small print stated was endangered ,the voice seemed to get louder. "ELLICOTTVILLE SKI FLIES, ONLY FOUND IN THIS AREA. ONLY ONE FAMILY ARE KNOWN TO EXIST". The voice seemed to be calling out to me "Hey mister". "DO NOT INTRODUCE ANY WILDLIFE , EITHER BIRDS, NOR FISH NOR ANY FORM OF AQUATIC SPECIES". Then it dawned on me that the voice was real, a young boy was approaching me with a sad look on his face. "Hey mister, have you seen my pet bullfrog?? He seems to have gotten out of his pen and I know he longs for his own pond.".. Oh Oh I said as the frog lazily gulped one more member of the endangered family. In retrospect, maybe I should have removed the sign and went fishin . Couldn´t cause much more harm, and I can almost taste a set of fried frog legs. I wonder??
